Porsche has confirmed that the Taycan Cross Turismo will reach showrooms in late 2020.

The vehicle was previewed by the Mission E Cross Turismo Concept, and in production-guise will be sold alongside the regular Taycan. Porsche initially suggested that the Cross Turismo would hit the market in 2021; however, in its recent annual sustainability report, it confirmed that the vehicle’s launch has been moved forward to 2020.

If the Taycan Cross Turismo retains the same shape as the concept, it will be positioned as a cross-utility vehicle (CUV). In layman’s terms, that means it’s a high-riding version of the regular Taycan, much like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain and Audi A6 Allroad.

Porsche will inevitably fit the Taycan Cross Turismo with the same powertrain as the Taycan sedan. That means it will have an electric motor on each axle. Up to 600 hp will be on offer and, in its most powerful form, the electric CUV will reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in roughly 3.5 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 12 seconds.

While the Taycan and Cross Turismo promise impressive performance numbers, of equal importance is their 800-volt electrical system that allows for very fast charging.

Porsche chief executive Oliver Blume recently revealed that hooking up the Taycan to an 800-volt charger for less than 20 minutes will add roughly 250 miles (400 km) to its range. Owners will also be able to top up their Taycans in small bursts to add 62 miles (100 km) of range in just four minutes.
