1978 Gaziantep doğumlu Serkan Taycan bir görsel sanatçıdır. İşlerinde genellikle fotoğraf, haritalar ve yürüyüşü kullanır. Çalışmalarının ana teması kentsel ve kırsal mekânların dönüşümü, yarattığı etkiler, gelecek projeksiyonları ve bu süreçlerin parçası olan insanlık durumlarıdır Taycan, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi'nde mühendislik eğitiminin ardından İsveç'de belgesel fotoğraf eğitimi gördü. Halen Sabancı Üniversitesi ve Helsinki Aalto Üniversitesi Görsel sanatlar bölümündeki yüksek lisans eğitimine devam etmektedir. Çalışmaları Helsinki Fotoğraf Müzesi, Selanik Fotoğraf Müzesi, St Petersburg Fotoğraf Müzesi, Malmö Müzesi gibi pek çok uluslararası kurumda sergilenmiştir. İstanbul'un tehditkâr dönüşümünü bedensel deneyimleme imkânı veren bir yürüyüş rotası olan "İki Deniz Arası" çalışması 13. İstanbul Bienalinde gösterilmiştir. Yapıtları Selanik Fotoğraf Müzesi, İstanbul Modern, Borusan Contemporary gibi koleksiyonlarda bulunmaktadır Galeri Elipsis tarafından temsil edilmektedir. Fotoğrafları The New Yorker, Der Speigel, Monocle, Wallpaper gibi uluslararası yayınlarda yer almaktadır. Bir sanatçı kolektifi olan RecCollective'in üyesidir. İstanbul ve Helsinki'de yaşamakta ve çalışmalarına devam etmektedir.

From the Black Sea to Marmara: Walk Between Two Seas
Born in 1978 in Gaziantep, Serkan Taycan is a visual artist. In his works he primarily uses photography, maps and walking. The main theme of his work is the transformation of urban and rural spaces, the consequences, future projections and the human condition that results from these processes of transformation. Taycan has studied documentary photography in Sweden after he completed his engineering degree in Yıldız Technical University and he still continues his master's studies in Sabancı University and Helsinki Aalto University's Visual Arts Department.
His works have been exhibited in many international institutions that include Helsinki Photography Museum, Thessaloniki Photography Museum, St. Petersburg Photography Museum and Malmö Museums. His recent work 'Between Two Seas' which is a walking trail that allows one to experience the threathening transformation of Istanbul as a bodily experience has been featured in the 13.th İstanbul Biennal. Taycan's works are in the permanent collections of Tessaloniki Museum, Istanbul Modern Museum, Borusan Contemporary Museum. He is represented by Ellipsis Gallery. His works have also been featured in international magazines such as The New Yorker, Der Speigel, Monocle, Wallapater. He is also a member of RecCollective an artists' collective, and currently lives and works in Istanbul and Helsinki.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
