In January Porsche announced its 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport would come in TWO different versions, one for the weekend race car drivers, and for the professional competition teams. Of the many unique features of the new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is its doors, the rear wing is made out of flax and hemp fibers, yep I can see all the Porsche fans in Colorado going crazy now over this Cayman! The new GT4 Clubsport has the 3.8-liter flat-six in the middle pumping out 425hp, surrounded by the factor welded in cage and six-point seat belts. In additional Porsche added a rescue hatch in the roof and that killer COSWORTH cluster and steering wheel.

In February one of the most famous racing Porsche celebrated its 50th Birthday, and the Porsche Museum is celebrating by restoring the first Porsche 917 car to its original condition. The man who designed the 917, Han Mezger set out to build a car that would sweep all the classes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and win the Brand World Championships. He not only designed the 12 cylinder engine, but the entire race car was his vision.

In March at the Geneva Motor Show Porsche launches three new sports models the 992-911 Cabriolet, mid-engine 718T, and the Macon S. The Macon S is powered by a new V6 engine with 3-litre twin-scroll turbocharger in central turbo layout. The engine is pumping out 355 horses, the 718 T is loaded with the flat 4 2-liter turbo engine putting down 300 horses to the road, and of course, the new ragtop 992-911 combines sexy lines with its 3.0 liter flat 6 turbo engine making 450 ponies.

In April tennis star Petra Kvitova after seven tries finally won herself the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and a new 911 Carrera 4S Cab, lucky girl I tell ya. Porsche through its Aces for Charity campaign donates $112 for every ace hit during the course of the tournament. A total of 212 were struck in 2019.

In May the 991 Speedster concept went into production, with only 1,948 cars to be built by the end of the year. The number of cars is tied to the first year the Speedster name was used by Porsche. This double-humped cab comes in just two colors, red and silver It has a six-speed not the seven-speed manual transmission, but with 510 horses packed inside its 4 liter flat 6.

You know what June means it means the 24 hours of Le Mans, and Porsche took to the road to win. The No. 92 Porsche 911 RSR at the season finale at Le Mans scored enough points at the 24-hour race in France to clinch the FIA World Endurance Championship, plus the manufacturer’s world championship title and the GTE-AM class at Le Mans. Porsche would win all GT titles that day.

In July Mark Webber who has driven for Porsche in the FIA in a Porsche 919 took on the Goodwood hill race in West Succex in the South of England behind the wheel of a prototype of the Porsche Taycan. This prototype of the new electric Porsche had over 600 horsepower, and 800 volts, with a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

In September Porsche presented its first fully-electric sports car to the public with the world premiere the Porsche Taycan Turbo. But they premiered it at the same time in America, China, and Europe. Not only is the new Taycan great for the environment but the new factory Porsche built to build the Taycan sets new standards in energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. The new Taycan can generate up to 760 horses, and consume 27kwh per 60 miles. I dunno what the hell that means other than the days of grabbing a hotdog and coffee at the gas station is going to be a thing of the past. One thing I do know is the Taycan can push your ass to 60 in as little as 2.8 seconds, and I have had the pleasure to feel what 2.6 seconds feels like… just you wait till your first time! The Taycan can fully recharge itself using DC in about five minutes of driving and have about a 60-mile range.

For November, we are back to racing man, and the start to the Formula E debut season. The TAG Heuer Porsche team started the season off at the Diriyah E-Prix in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The #36 is driving by André Lotterer who is a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, he gradually worked his way up through the field to secure second place on lap 30. With a 2nd place finish in the first race of the season gave Porsche 18 points.

And finally in December Porsche teamed up with the Star Wars movie franchise to design a fantasy starship named Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter, and was displayed at the movie premiere in Los Angeles. The new Tri-Wing S-91x has the basic shape of the cabin of that of the Porsche 911 and Taycan. Even the rear section of the starship bears the brand’s hallmark light bar.
