2020 porsche taycan in-depth Review.

Porsche has long built phenomenal driving machines, and now it'll extend that philosophy to all-electric vehicles with the 2020 Taycan. The upcoming Porsche sedan hasn't been completely revealed, but the German automaker has said the Taycan will be on sale by the end of 2019. The electric sedan was first teased by the Porsche Mission E concept. We've also spotted numerous Taycans testing in cold weather and glimpsed official images of its closer-to-production form.

Powertrain, Charging, and Handling

The forthcoming Taycan shares a basic platform with the 2020 Audi e-tron GT; however, each will maintain distinct personalities. Both utilize an 800-volt electrical system that will provide state-of-the-art fast-charging capability, which Porsche claims will allow the Taycan to add 250 miles of driving range in just 15 minutes. Those electrons will flow into its 96.0-kWh battery pack that will enable an estimated range of more than 300 miles. All of that technology is put to the pavement via front- and rear-mounted electric motors that should generate more than 600 horsepower. Porsche also will offer various power outputs and potentially a rear-drive model. The company estimates the Taycan will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.

Interior and Technology

Between our spy photos and Porsche's teaser images, we have a pretty good idea about what the production Taycan will look like. Its silhouette resembles the fastback appearance of the Porsche Panamera sedan, but the Taycan will have a rear trunk rather than a hatchback and a large front trunk. The interior design and available technology are less obvious. We've seen hints about the cabin on the original concept and the more recent Mission E Cross Turismo concept. The latter appears to be more production ready, with a familiar three-spoke steering wheel and multiple displays and touchscreens. Unfortunately, the concept's deployable electric drone that was meant to provide overhead driving video is pure fantasy.
