The song, which was first recorded by John Lennon as a home demo in 1979, was one of the few that the surviving Beatles tried to remix and restore for the Anthology project back in 1995. It worked well on "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" to take Lennon's incomplete demos and add overdubs and newly recorded sections, but it was more difficult to work on "Now and Then."
