The final Beatles album to be recorded, but not the last to be released, was Abbey Road, which was released on September 26, 1969. Let It Be was finally released in May 1970 along with the film of the same name, despite having been mostly recorded in January 1969. George Martin received a call from Paul McCartney in the spring of 1969. He enquired as to whether or not he would be willing to work with the Beatles on a new album they planned to make in the near future.
