(9 Mar 2015) PAUL MCCARTNEY, KANYE WEST IN FRONT ROW FOR ON TREND STELLA MCCARTNEY
Their musical styles couldn't be further apart, but that didn't stop rapper Kanye West and former-Beatle and fashion dad Paul McCartney arriving at the Stella McCartney show buddy-buddy to join actor Woody Harrelson on the front row.
Other stars watching her catwalk at Paris Fashion Week included models Poppy and Cara Delevigne, recording artist Mark Ronson and photographer Mario Testino.
But the strong celebrity presence wasn't needed to attract attention to the 43-year-old's designs for fall-winter 2015/16.
It was a stellar collection.
Hitting the on-trend stop, Stella McCartney sensually explored styles of undressing for fall-winter 2015, with a hint of the corset.
Silhouettes were cinched chicly with a belt at the waist or were bustier-shaped.
Elsewhere there were voluminous "comfort" shapes on beautiful loose knit sweater-dresses in earth tones, which would fall nonchalantly off one arm - as if in a state of undress.
McCartney explained her thinking behind the collection.
"I think, you know, we're very mindful of what we stand for, what we do well and we wanted to show the precision of what we do, so a lot of tailoring, beautiful coats. But then this idea of the woman coming undone, almost, slight unraveling in the clothes where they fall and they drape and there's a bricolage of different materials coming together," said the designer.
"Even at the end there's corsetry work, sort of extra ordinary tailoring there but she's got an attitude that's quite honest and loose and fresh and I think that there was a warmth to this season, I think."
Menswear tuxedos with a deep V-cleavage were worn against nude skin, with a reversed, off-kilter side pocket panel stitched on the front.
And in a fabulous series of huge yeti-style "Fur Free Fur" coat looks - which shimmied past stylishly - McCartney evoked the spirit of her late animal rights activist mother, Linda.
"I do fake fur and I don't always put it on my runway actually," the designer said.
"I do it rarely, but I think this season, I just think that it's time, I think that there's so much fur and it's so unfashionable, to me, and I think it looks very old and not very cool, so I wanted to just show an alternative."
They were sometimes twinned with great '70s kick flare pants - which together with flashes of eclectic metallic panels in dresses and skirts - gave the collection a real disco lift.
"I loved it," proud dad Paul McCartney said, after his daughter had taken her bow.
"Very good, very fresh, interesting."
