Paul McCartney has come clean about his frustration with John Lennon's celebrity—the fame that led to his death on the streets of New York, USA, almost thirty years ago. John was a friend of Paul's in The Beatles.

In an interview with Esquire, McCartney said that he was sick of it when people compared John F. Kennedy—also shot and killed in the street—to John Lennon. Before Lennon's death, McCartney claimed, every member of The Beatles got equal airtime. Then, in 1970, the British band split up, and Lennon was shot.
