On Friday 10 January 1969, George Harrison privately announced he was quitting the Beatles (though he would rejoin later that month). The following Monday morning, 13 January 1969, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr showed up for a "Get Back" film session at Twickenham Studios and sat around waiting for John Lennon to arrive. During a conversation with Linda Eastman about British and American terms for casual shoes ("plimsolls," "pumps," etc.), director Michael Lindsay-Hogg put on a 45 rpm record of Arthur Conley's cover version of "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." This was Paul's reaction to the record, with comments by Ringo, Linda, and Lindsay-Hogg. Some unrelated dialogue has been cut out.
