The Moody Blues' lead singer and Wings' guitarist Denny Laine passed away at the age of 79.
The Moody Blues' co-founder and member of Wings (which included Sir Paul McCartney) "passed away peacefully" after a fight with lung disease.
Taking care of him throughout his illness and fragility was a "absolute honor and privilege to not only be his wife," Elizabeth Hines wrote in an Instagram post.
She said: "My darling husband passed away peacefully early this morning."While I held his hand and sang him Christmas carols, I was by his side in the hospital.
Sir Paul expressed his "very saddened" at the passing of his ex-bandmate Laine in an Instagram tribute. According to him: "I have many fond memories of my time with Denny: from the early days when The Beatles toured with the Moody Blues. "We had a blast playing with one other, and our bands really respected each other. Initially, Denny became a member of Wings. His vocals and guitar playing were second to none. Singing the classic Bessie Banks song "Go Now" would undoubtedly go down in history as his most memorable performance."
