Paul McCartney blames John Lennon for Beatle Breakup | UK News | NewsRme
Paul McCartney has spoken out about the split of The Beatles, denying that he was to blame for it.
McCartney said that John Lennon wanted The Beatles to break up in an interview with BBC Radio 4's "This Cultural Life" set to broadcast on Oct. 23.
McCartney was clear: "I didn't start the breakup." The man in the picture was "our Johnny."
Fans of the band have long argued about who was to blame for the dissolution, with many pointing the finger at Paul McCartney. It was John Lennon's desire to "break loose," according to McCartney, that was the driving force for the band's breakup.
Because their manager urged them to stay quiet until he closed a number of commercial agreements, confusion over the split festered, McCartney claims.
Ahead of Peter Jackson's six-hour documentary about the band's last months, the actor spoke with Rolling Stone. The Beatles' split will undoubtedly be revisited in "The Beatles: Get Back," which will debut on Disney+ in November. The Observer was the first to break the news of McCartney's remarks.
"Stop right there. ", McCartney replied to interviewer John Wilson when questioned about his choice to go it alone. The breakup was not started by me. Oh no, please don't do it. In the middle of the night, John announced to everyone in the room,
McCartney expressed regret at the split, stating that the band was still producing "quite excellent things."
My band, career, and existence revolved around this. As a result, I want that it continue," McCartney said.
