Paul McCartney and John Lennon were in continual dispute after The Beatles split up. Contractual and commercial concerns involving the band were a common source of friction between Lennon and McCartney, who Lennon viewed with disdain in his solo career. In spite of all the bickering, McCartney came to terms with the fact that his perception of the band's history had been tarnished by the resentment he felt when they broke up.
