As a renowned musician like Ozzy Osbourne, encountering someone who leaves you starstruck is rare. However, during a recent episode of The Osbournes Podcast, he unveiled a surprising moment from his past. According to the iconic singer, there exists one fellow musician who managed to leave him utterly in awe.
"I'm a big Beatle fan and when I first met Paul McCartney, it was like meeting Jesus Christ," said Ozzy.
"He was a very nice man. And when I got a Grammy, he followed up with my producer to congratulate me. That was very, very special," Ozzy said, recalling the interaction.
Ozzy has openly expressed his enduring love for The Beatles, declaring them his favorite artist in a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone. He attests to incorporating Beatles' music into his daily listening routine. Additionally, Osbourne disclosed that "Darkside Blues" from his solo album, Patient Number 9, serves as a conceptual tribute to the Beatles' runout groove featured on "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
Ozzy made an attempt to enlist Paul McCartney to play bass on his 2001 song "Dreamer." But at that time, McCartney declined, stating that Robert Trujillo's bass track was of such high quality that it was deemed irreplaceable.
September, 2022, Ozzy Osbourne, the ex-Black Sabbath frontman, participated in the End The Silence campaign led by the charity Hope And Homes For Children. The campaign urges artists from various music genres to contemplate the songs that significantly impacted their lives during their youth.
At the event, Ozzy told that he attributes his entire career to The Beatles, especially after he heard the song called "She Loves You".
"'She Loves You' had such an impact on me. I remember exactly where I was. I was walking down Witton Road in Aston, I had a blue transistor radio and when that song came on I knew from then on what I wanted to do with my life."
Ozzy adding, "This was so brand new and it gave me a great feeling. Then I became an avid Beatles fan – they were great. I owe my career to them because they gave me the desire to want to be in the music game."
