6th July 1957 was the day John Lennon met Paul McCartney at St. Peter's Church Garden Fete in Woolton, Liverpool. This is the audio recorded that day.
Introduced by their mutual friend Ivan Vaughan, Paul McCartney was invited to St Peter's Church where John Lennon and his group, The Quarrymen, were playing.
Paul McCartney was impressed by John Lennon particularly, and they were introduced to each other in St Peter's Church Hall, where Paul played a few songs, including Twenty Flight Rock, to John. Lennon was impressed by McCartney, especially the way he played John's guitar upside down!
After Paul had gone home, John and the Quarrymen took to the stage, and a friend of theirs, Bob Molyneux, recorded a couple of songs from their set. The only fragment that remained is John singing some of Putting on The Style and Baby Let's Play House. John's voice is distinctive.
